Cockroach Clusters
I remember making these treats with my mom when I was just a witch in training. I've modified this classic candy by adding peanut butter, because cockroach insides must taste a bit nutty, right?
½ c. Butterscotch chips
½ c. Semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ c. Creamy peanut butter
2 c. Dry chow mein noodles
½ c. Salted peanuts
Heat up the chocolate and butterscotch chips in a microwave for 1-2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Mix in the peanut butter, dry chow Mein and peanuts until evenly coated. On a baking sheet covered with foil, parchment paper, or wax paper, drop a spoonful of noodles to form small clusters. I put my delicious insects in the refrigerator to cool and set, although they are perfectly fine setting at room temperature. They are survivors, dear friend! You can store them in an airtight container at room temperature.
Kids and adults love these treats and always are trying to figure out what's inside. Make it a game, why not? Unlike the real ones, these cockroaches are welcome in any cook's kitchen.
